The neoconservative was the specter of political stupidity in this age, much like today's neoliberal. It was oft suggested that 9/11 traumatized some of the lazier media elites into flipping their ideology. I like to think Eve's mom just became a fan of tragedy, though.

9/11 just gave them some welcome focus in their dreary lives. They loved it, as much as they'd never admit it. Exhibit #1: Rudy Giuliani.
