I already had my dog Heidi when this comic was made, but there were days when I'd longed bitterly for a dog. In Brooklyn you see a lot of dog owners not paying attention to their dogs. Ignoring them at the parks. Dogs just living in a constant state of anxiety. It's a rough place for a small animal to live. I'd often fantasize about stealing away with them for a game. I promised Heidi when we left NY she'd have a nice yard and a place to hike - it was the least I could give her for those stressful Brooklyn years.

We have a nice non-official dog-park nearby. It's a undeveloped parcel, I don't know, maybe some legal dispute over land? Nevertheless it's a nice, bushy and meadowy place, between school, little airport, some villas and little apartment houses. It was taken over by dog-owners, someone fastened a plank in a tree as a bench, put a bowl with water for doggos and someone even puts in few places plastic bags for litter and exchanges them, when they're full.
I call it Switzerland – because most of the dogs, including mine, Ragnar, are not fighting and biting there, even if they're enemies outside of it. So it's kind of a neutral space.
