Park wanted badly to come back home to Mr. Song's; its closing helped him rationalize moving to Chicago, but his friends have reanimated it for him. There's an undeniably significant history here for Park and Eve, inconvenient though it may be.
Nerds can be presumptuous about shared interest, but this surprise goodbye party is a genuine expression of appreciation for their friends before they move away, based on Park and Eve repeatedly implying they still cared.
Also, in the old comic Eve is in a hoodie and Park is in a zip-up jacket. In this story, Park is in a hoodie and Eve is in a zip-up jacket. Just sayin'.
Commenting pretty late, but I just had to share my realization that Mr. Yoga is the reason for Chris to wear the "FUCK YOGA" shirt in the future: http://www.octopuspie.com/2014-10-24/720-maintain…

This awkward night is a reflection of the night they met back up.
