I didn't bother with the green eyes in print - I think it gets the job done. I let it have its own 2-page spread in the book. TV Tropers would probably find a lot of gold in this one. It closes the loop of the story, Marek turns out to be really desirable by women and men.

The only time I ever participated in a date auction, one of my [female] friends had to buy a night with me for a dollar because LITERALLY no one else would. For a college freshman already down on himself, it was far more devastating than it probably should have been.
