#592 – an unwritable novel

Dudes this is exciting -- Octopus Pie was nominated for a Reuben Award! This is an industry award given by the National Cartoonists Society and I'm pretty thrilled about it. The full nominee list is here. OP is specifically up for the "Online Comics - Long Form" division along with Vince Dorse's Untold Tales of Bigfoot, and Pat N. Lewis' Muscles Diablo in: Where Terror Lurks! Be sure to check out their wonderful art, so you can say you were IN before any of us win. ;) I also had some rad Passover food once this week and intend to do it again. Treats abound.

  1. Hey Will go out with Eve that will fix literally all your problems

    1. But he'd have to walk all the way over to the other side of the couch!

      1. So close, yet so far…

  2. I'm so confused. What are they talking about…

    1. Will's "Girlfriend"

  3. I love it. Will has needed a dressing-down like this for a while, and Hanna's the only one who can do it justice.

  4. Will and Hannah time, something we don't get enough of <3

  5. Oooh, look at me I've got everything in *your* life figured out.
You still have some paint flakes in *your* hair, Hanna.

  6. Goddamnit Will, stop being me. Shit, Hanna, stop seeing into my soul.

  7. WOW WELL DONE MER, super excited I have everything crossed for ya.

  8. So what Hannah is saying is,

    Aimee is the 90s.

  9. Love Manuel's appearance here. And congratulations, Meredith! That's awesome.

  10. Eve is totally just pretending to sleep so she can eavesdrop.

    1. I would.

Also, Will and Aimee's arrangement sounds great to me. These days I feel like I could only have a boyfriend if I could forget he existed for weeks at a time. So basically, Hanna get bent

      1. hannah is meddling again – projecting what she thinks is right for other people onto her friends like she always has.

  11. Will's expression in panel 6. He is WHISKING that mother.

I also can't tell if he or Hanna is wrong about his relationship with Amy.

  12. is Hanna quoting Soul II Soul? hahahaha, awesome.

  13. Well, here's the other side of the equation: How does Aimee feel about the relationship? Is SHE okay with it, the same way Will is; or does she want something more real? Hanna seems to be forgetting to take that into consideration.

    1. I absolutely agree. As long as the arrangement works, who is Hanna to complain? It reminds me of people who are critical of polyamorous relationships, when they work just fine for the actual people involved.

    2. Good point- the relationship is "real" depending on how both Will AND Aimee feel about it. Hanna's own feelings on it don't really matter.

But then, she does frequently forget to take other peoples' perspectives into consideration, well-intentioned though she may be.

  14. Is that a Soul 2 Soul reference I see there? Well played.

  15. Hah, I should probably learn to read comments before posting. And learn how to spell Soul II Soul correctly.

  16. Why is this comic, just like every comic in this 'verse, a mirror reflection of what I am going through in my own life?

  17. Whoa, the kitchen wall cutting away.. are they in the Sims?

  18. I wonder how Hannah gets around health and safety standards if she makes all her stuff in a domestic kitchen…
